Fish can be obtained by two ways : 1) Capture fishing it is the process of obtaining fish from natural resources. 2) Culture fishery : it is the practice of farming fishes. Farming can be done in both freshwater ecosystem ( which includes river water, pond water ) and marine ecosystem.

Fishes are one of the most consumed non-vegetarian food materials around the globe due to it's high protein and vitamin contents.

The edible fishes are obtained by two methods:

1) Capturing :The fishes are directly captured from oceans,ponds and rivers,in this method.

2) Harvesting : The fishes are artificially harvested in a controlled environment and this method is also known as the pisciculture.
