They don't have any backbone (in all species making exception on few) making it a special skeletal system. The skeletal system of a fish is quite flexible as it is made of cartilaginous substances, they have absence of bones. The skeletal body is itself growing underneath the skin becoming tough spines which further make up the fins (allowing steadiness in water and balancing the body in a perfect cordial) and also in the formations of the scales present on the body of the fish (hard plates formed over the skin). Those were some of the unique and credible characteristics in fish skeletal system.
