How are focal length and power of a lens related?

The power (P) of a lens is given as the inverse of its focal length (F). So,

$p = \frac{1}{f}$

So, a lens with smaller focal length will have more converging power than then one having a higher focal length. So, the power of lens of smaller focal length will be more and will give us more convergent light comparatively to large focal length. Also we can differentiate it by taking converging and diverging lenes.
