PITCH - Pitch is that characteristic of Sound due to which we are able to distinguish between a shrill (high - pitched) sound and a hoarse (low - pitched) sound.
Pitch of sound depends on its frequency. Higher the Frequency of a sound, higher its pitch and sound is shriller. In this context, we can also say that how the brain interprets the Frequency of the emitted sound is called the Pitch.
Objects of different sizes and conditions vibrate at different frequencies to produce sounds of different pitchs.
Examples -
1. Sound of a crow has a low pitch whereas sound of a cuckoo has a high pitch so in the case of cuckoo the frequency will be higher because higher the frequency of a sound, higher is its pitch.
2. Again, Pitch of the sound produced by a child is more than that of an old person. So again, in the case of child the frequency is higher.
