There needn't be one. Centripetal force is that force that acts on a revolving body and is directed in a line joining the body and the center of the revolution. Any force may suffice in this; for example a weight tied to the end of a string being swung in a circle. 

Sometimes gravity also serves as the centripetal force. Such as in the case of a celestial body and its satellite. For example, the centripetal force required by the moon to revolve around the Earth is furnished by the force of gravity between them, as is the force required to keep the Earth and other planets around the sun, etc
