Alfred wagener introduced a theory named continental drift theory. He said that the super continent pangaea was divided into two parts the angara land and the gondwana land. Later gondwana land split into two pieces and thus Indian subcontinent was formed. The Indian subcontinent collided with the eurasian plate. This process is called folding and it is the result of formation of himalayas.

About 70 million years ago the subcontinent of India collided with the continent of Asia. So the part of the Indian landmasss was pushed beneath Asian one , and as a result the Asian landmass was pushed upwars giving rise to the fold mountain s Himalayas ......... : )
