The inner surface of small instestine has milion of tiny finger like projections called villi. The presence of villi gives the inner walls of the small instestine a very large surface area. And the the large surface area of small intestine helps in the rapid absorption of the digested food. Because of these millions of villies and micro villies small intestine absorbs food easily.
