Answer:

In linear settlements, houses are built on both sides of the road, railway track, river or a canal. The houses are built in rows facing each other.

Answer:

Linear settlements-->They are usually represented by red boxes(representing    houses or huts-usually in a row on either side of a road)and are usually found on the side of the roads and they provide facilities to people travelling in the form of dhabas, etc.

Scattered settlements-->These are settlements found in very inaccessible(hard to get to) places like mountains, hills, etc. Over here, the population is very scarce and therefore, the houses are very few or scarce. Therefore, the scarce population have few houses and these houses are scattered across the area. It is represented by red boxes scattered across.
