Answer:

plants grow in presence of soil. all heterotrophs are dependent on plants for food and all saprophytes, symbionts and parasites are dependent on heterotrophs. even aquatic animals are partially dependent on soil as in marine plantae and not as in weed.

Soil is a complex mixture, comprising of minerals(45%),organic matter(5%), air(25%), water(25%) and living organisms. It is an important resource which is responsible for the diversity of life in an area.Plants depend on soil for minerals and water and all terrestial organisms depend on plants for their food and it contained energy. So,all terrestial organisms depend on soil.Organisms live in water are not totally independent of a soil as a resource because Some decomposer present at the bottom of water decompose the dead bodies of plants and animals.the released nutrients from the organic matter gets dissolved in water and are then taken by plants and animals.
