The metallic minerals are for the subdivided in the following way -

• There are three main types of metallic minerals :

- Ferrous Metals.

- Non Ferrous Metals.

- Precious Metals.

• The metals which have magnetic properties are known as the ferrous metals.

Eg. iron, cobalt etc.

• The metals which don't have magnetic properties are known as the non ferrous metals.

Eg. Copper,Zinc etc.

• The metals which are rarely found in the environment and very expensive,are known as the precious metals.

Eg. Gold, Silver etc.
