plains occur as low lands along the bottoms of the valley or on the doorsteps plateaus of mountain as coastal plains and as plateaus or uplands.plains may have been formed from flowing lava,deposited by water,ice,wind or formed by erosion..

Two types of plains are

1)Structural plains.
2)depositional plains.

features of structural plains are

1)structural plains are formed due to uplift or subsidence of land.
2)Dias force may cause uplift or subsedences of coastal land under ocean water.

Features of depositonal plains are

1)depositional plains are formed by deposition of materials brought by river winds and Marine activities..
2)the plains formed by river consists Alluvial soil and is very fertile..

plains are formed by both external and internal processes.the plains like the great plains of USA were formed by the upliftment of a part of land under the sea are known as structural plains.In the middle,the course of the river begins to over flow its banks. in this process, the materials being carried by the river are sand,clay and slit, together called the alluvium. these get deposit in the flood plains, also called the alluvial plains.
