Mendelian inheritance refers to the expression of Inheritance of monogenic traits, that is trades that are controlled by one gene and the interaction between alleles is dominance-recessive. It is also called as qualitative inheritance.

in polytechnic inheritance one trait may be controlled by two or more genes. The interaction among the genes is usually additive. It is also known as quantitative inheritance.

In Pleiotrophy, a single gene can exhibit multiple phenotypic expression. The mechanism of pleiotropy in most cases is the effect of gene on metabolic pathways which contributes towards different phenotype.
