Power resources may be defined as the important resources which are obtained naturally. For example Petroleum, Natural Gas , Coal etc. Power resources can be classified into two types Convectional Resources and Non Convectional Resources.

Example of Convectional Resources  are fossil fuels or firewood.

Example of Non Convectional Resources are Wind Energy , Solar Energy.

Advantages :

i) Convectional Resources or Convectional Energy-

*They are available in large quantity that is they are abundant and affordable.

ii) Non Convectional Resources or Non- Convectional Energy-

*It reduces CO2 emissions in the coal power plants.

Disadvantages:

i) Convectional Resources or Convectional Energy-

* They are not Eco friendly.

ii) Non Convectional Resources or Non- Convectional Energy-

* Their cost to set up is high and also it has high maintenance charges.
