Proteins are digested in our stomach. Pepsin , an enzyme secreted by the gastric glands in our stomach breaks the complex proteins into their simpler form, i.e., peptones and peptides.Further in the small intestine their are various enzymes which also convert peptones and peptides into Amino acids.
Carbohydrates are digested in our buccal cavity (mouth). An enzyme named , Salivary Amylase , also known as Ptyalin, which is present in our saliva , converts the complex carbohydrates into their simpler form,i. e., glucose.
Now, both the proteins and carbohydrates are absorbed by the small finger like projections present in the small intestine, known as villi.
These villi are connected to various blood capillaries which further helps to provide this absorbed food to each and every part of the body.
Hope this helps you!!!!!
