The religious and social belief has left Ganga polluted. The practice of taking a holy bath in it has made it extremely polluted. Apart from this the throwing away of garbage by people in the river during the holy festivals also pollutes it.
Also, during Kumbh Mela , lakhs people drench themselves in this river leaving it polluted.During these fests people also urinate in this sacred river Making it extremely polluted.
I would only like to say that such practices must be prevented and also prohibited. I am not saying that worshiping it is bad, but proper cleanliness measures must be taken, especially during huge fests like Kumbh Mela.
