In the stomach several mucosal defence mechanisms protect the stomach against hydrochloric acid and noxious agents. The pre-epithelial protection is made up by the mucus-bicarbonate barrier. Mucus and bicarbonate, secreted by mucus cells, create a pH gradient maintaining the epithelial cell surface at near neutral pH.

How To Avoid That Awful,Bloated Feeling

Our bodies are affected by what we eat and the kind of foods we choose. The healthier the choice of food, the healthier will be our bodies. Bad food choices lead to bloating and can affect any one, affecting your work and personal life.

That feeling of being too full, heavy and uncomfortable around the stomach is what many people describe as bloating. Bloatingcauses significant abdominal distention in many patients who complain of it. The feeling of bloating, although subjective, is correlated to increased pressure in the stomach, or excessive gas.1

Bloating is caused by various factors such as the kind of food you eat, excessive swallowing of air, bacterial fermentation in the lower gut and other chemical reaction in the gut.2 The daily stress, irregular and poor eating habits with an unhealthy lifestyle are the triggers for bloating.

Bloating can be mild to severe, causing discomfort and indigestion. Patients of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and constipation complain of bloating to a larger degree and it is known to affect the quality of life
