Some people spread rumors as a way to intimidate others and gain status or popularity. But spreading rumors as a way to turn people against someone is a form of bullying — and it can have serious consequences for the person doing it. Spreading unkind gossip in person or online is not a decent or mature way to act.

Rumors are most harmful because there is no way good way to fight them, and are the ultimate weapon of revenge . They are nowhere, and everywhere. Nobody knows where they come from, and they take forever to disappear, if they ever do. Rumors travel faster than fire though a hayfield, and the fouler they are, the more they are repeated and believed. All the target can do is hope that others are not believing the rumor, and wait on it to die.
Hope it helps you
