A shadow is made when an object blocks light. The object must be opaque or translucent to make ashadow. A transparent object will not make any shadow, as light will pass straight through it. ... Shadows made by the Sun.

Shadows are formed in the following way -

• Our eyes can see the objects in the presence of the light and in the absence of the light, the darkness is created.

• Similarly, light can pass through transparent or translucent mediums but light cannot pass through opaque mediums.

• When opaque or partially opaque objects gets in the way of light rays ,the partial light rays are blocked by that object and a region of darkness which is similar to the shape of the original object is created behind the object.

This region of darkness is known as the shadow.
