how are solar cells used as a source of electricity

Hey mate!

Solar cells just like batteries are designed to generate electricity. They are also called Photovoltaic cells because, they generate this electricity from sunlight. They are made of slices of silicon. When sunlight falls on them, the energy of photons blasts out electrons from silicon. Then, these electrons pass through an electric circuit, thus generating electricity.
