At a joint , the bones are held together in proper position by tough and flexible tissues called ligaments ..

Muscles are attached to bones by strong , white , connective tissues called tendons ...

Tendons are similar in structure to ligaments. However , tendons bind muscles to bones , whereas ligaments bind bones to bones.
