On the basis of employment conditions activities are categorized as

Organised and Unorganized:

Organized Sector

  • They are registered by the government
  • They enjoy job security
  • They get several benefits like paid leaves, gratuity, provident fund, pensions etc.
  • They have fixed number of working hours. If they work more than the number of working hours then they have to be paid overtime by the employer.
  • The factory manager has to ensure safe drinking water and make safe working conditions in the factory for them and they also get medical benefits under the laws.

Unorganized Sector:

  • They are not registered by the government.
  • Employment is a subject to high degree of insecurity
  • A large number of people who are doing small jobs such as selling on the street and street work come under unorganized sector.
  • They do not have provision for paid leaves, holiday during sickness etc.
  • Workers working in the unorganized sector gets fewer wages
