Diploid refers to a condition of having 2 sets of chromosome (2n), similarly the conditions can be triploid, tetraploid, hexaploid etc. Human gametes are haploid as they have only one set of chromosome (n=23). Human zygote is diploid and it is formed by the fusion of haploid gametes, It contains 2 sets of chromosome (2n=2X23=46).

Haploid cells are cells that contain only one complete set of chromosomes. The most common type of haploid cells is gametes, or sex cells. Haploid cells are produced by Meiosis.
