Division of Himalayas:

Himalayas have been separated on the basis of states from west to east or east to west. The division has been done on the origin of the rivers flowing in the Himalayan regions. Following is the division in east-west direction:

• Assam Himalayas: This region of Himalaya lies between the rivers of Tista and Dihang.

• Nepal Himalayas: This region lies between the rivers of Kali and Tista.

• Kumaon Himalayas: This part lies between rivers of Sutlej and Kali.

• Punjab Himalayas: This part lies between the rivers of Indus and Sutlej.
