Frog adaptations such as a small waist, no neck and a broad, flat skull make his body streamlined for swimming. The frog's skin is thin, which allows for air to pass through, in effect allowing him to breathe throughhis skin. Powerful hind legs and feet allow the frog to jump long distances.

Swimming fast means escaping from predators and catching more prey, and those long, muscular hind legs are key to the frog's success. These frogs also jump when on land, but not usually as far as land-based species.
