The peninsular rivers are very different from the rivers that originate from the himalayas for many reasons, where some reasons for why himalayan rivers are different from peninsular rivers are:

  • Himalayan rivers are 'perennial', they flow 'throughout' the year without drying up where as the peninsular rivers aren’t perennial they don’t flow throughout the year.
  • Himalayan rivers contain huge deltas whereas the peninsular ones have estuaries.
  • The Himalayan rivers are formed by melting of glaciers whereas the peninsular ones are not.
  • The Himalayan rivers have larger river basin than peninsular rivers.
