In India, the forests have been disappearing at a very high rate. This phenomenon is called deforestation. During the industrialization phase of 1700 and 1995, around 13.9 million square km of the forest land was cleared for industrial uses, agriculture, pasture, and fuelwood. Although deforestation started many centuries ago it became more organized during the colonial period. Forest Society and Colonialism is an important aspect of our life!
