In our stomach there is a layer of mucus which protect our stomach from HCl.

Mucus: It protects the wall of stomach from the corrosive action of HCl.

The mucous of gastric juice forms a thick coating over the inner walls of stomach and neutralizes hydrochloric  acid here. This makes it difficult to attack the stomach walls.
