Hey!

_____________

Speed of sound is the distance travelled by the sound wave per unit time. Demoted by 'v' and measured in m/s.

Now, following the above Statement,

Distance travelled by a sound wave in a periodic time (T) = wavelength (λ) of sound wave.

Speed of sound (v) = Distance (λ) / time taken (T)

v= λ /T = ( 1 / T ) λ

We know, 1 / T = f (frequency)

Thus, v = f λ

NUMERICAL -:

Frequency (f) = 220 Hz
Speed of sound (v) = 440 m/s
Wavelength = ?

v = f λ
440 = 220 × λ
440/220 = λ
λ = 2m

Wavelength is 2 metre (m).

Heya!!

--------------------------------------

The distance btw two consecutive crests or troughs known as wavelength.

Means distance =wavelength

The no of waves in one second known as frequency.

Hence frequency = 1/t (where t is time period)

Since speed of Wave or generally speed

= Distance / time

= d * 1/t

= wavelength * frequency

Hence wave speed = wavelength * frequency

------------------------------------

# Calculate the wavelenght of a sound wave whose frequency in 220hz and speed is 440m/s in the given medium.

Given : Wavelength =?
Frequency = 220hz

Wave speed = 440 m/s

Since Wave speed = Wavelength * frequency

=) 440 = wavelength * 220

=) 440/220 m = wavelength

= 2m.

SI unit of wavelength is m.

Hence answer is 2m.

Hope it helps u :)
