1 ) Seasonal plants - These plants ( They are all herbs ) have very short life span extending from a few weeks to few months only .
Real seasonal plants are found in tundra region where the ice thaws and season is good for germination . these plants complete their life cycle from seed germination to seed setting in a few weeks before the ice sets in . Then their seeds remain dormant till the next thaw!!
In the Gardening parlance many flowering plants planted in the gardens are also called seasonal as their flowering period is for a season or few months only . The life span may be a bit longer!
2 ) Annual plants = Life span is for one year a bit more .
3 ) Biennials = Life span is for two years or a bit more .
4 ) Perennials = These plants last for many many years . Shrubs and Trees come in this category .
