When the fertilized egg gets splited into two parts, the twins get formed. As the fertilized egg has a well-formed zygote cell, a where both male and female gametes are fusioned. Both the twins carry same genetic characteristics. They also have same chromosomes containing exact same DNA molcules.

Sometimes, most identical twins formed. They seperate fertilized eggs and sperms. Simply, twins formed due to splitting of embryo or fertilized egg. This split can occur at any stage of fertilization. Thus, both twins carry same data and DNA molecules (chromosomes). They are monozygotic and identical. This monozygotic twins can only be either boys or girls. Because, they contain may be XY or XX sex chromosomes.

Similarly, in case of triplets, the fertilized egg divides or splits in three parts. As in twins two parts, in triplets in three parts. They also carry same genes. They are exact same and also carry same DNA molecules. Sometimes, it fertilizes by sperm cells and the unique and two genetically individuals gets produced. This type of twins or triplets are dizygotic, that is, fraternal.
