how are we able to read a page of book or see a flower

When light falls on an object (like a flower or the letters on a page) it gets reflected to the eye. The light that enters into the eye gets refracted by the eye lens to form a real inverted image of the object on the retina.

This image is sent to the brain through optic nerve and the brain interprets the image correctly. This is how we see things.
