The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation abbreviated as SAARC is the regional intergovernmental group and geopolitical union of countries in South Asia.  

The following countries are the members of SAARC  

1. Afghanistan

2. Bangladesh

3. Bhutan

4. India

5. The Maldives

6. Nepal

7. Pakistan  

8. Sri Lanka

Each of the above country may differ by culture, race, society etc. but geographically they are neighbors and forums like SAARC help in exploring co-operation among the member states and mitigating the issues between them.   There is also lot scope for economic and social improvement through co-operation between the member states.

There are official meetings and forums planed between the member states on a fixed time interval and these help in better understanding and maintaining of good relationships between the member countries.
