they are weakly acidic growth harmones having an unsaturated ring structure and capable of promoting cell elongation, especially of shoots at a concentration less than 100 ppm which is inhibitory to the roots.
APPLICATION IN PARTHENOCARPY:
auxins are applied to unpollinated pistils to make them develop in to seedless fruits or parthenocarps.
these parthenocarps carry a better market price than the normal fruits having seeds.
ex: tomato.
