The term “bandana” is believed to have originated from the Portuguese and also the Hindustani languages. The word had a simple meaning – it described a primitive method that was used to obtain a dyeing effect by tying up a cloth. This was done in different places on the cloth which prevented dye from coming into contact with the tied areas.
