Non-Metallic oxides react with bases to give salts and water. Here metal in base reacts with carbon dioxide to form a salt. Hydrogen adds with oxygen in non- metal oxide to form water.Non metallic oxides are acidic in nature.
e.g. - Reaction of nonmetal oxide with base: CO2 + 2NaOH → Na2CO3 +H2O. Reaction of nonmetal oxide with salt: SO2 + Na2CO3 → Na2SO3 + CO2.
e.g. - Reaction of nonmetal oxide with base: CO2 + 2NaOH → Na2CO3 +H2O. Reaction of nonmetal oxide with salt: SO2 + Na2CO3 → Na2SO3 + CO2.

Non metal oxide is acidic, so a base and non metallic oxide can react.
It is the neutralization reaction.
eg. CO2 + 2NaOH==> Na2CO3 + H2O
