at present people believe that a person who has more money has a good name in society. so obviously he/she will have good respect. In villages, we hear people giving extra respect to a person with more money saying that they have lots of money and hence we must respect them.

it is because many people are quite selfish and can do anything for money. sometimes due to money people can get respect and better position. it can also be said if we are helpful and quite consious about the expenditures of the money then people think that it is better way and think you as a better desision maker in the society. this also helps in ranking the thoughts in every persons mind. so it depends on the people if they think about you in proper way or not.
