Alpha rays are positively charged rays , beta rays are negatively charged rays.
Beta particles travel several feet when emitted from a radioactive source, but they're blocked by most solid objects. the beta rays are about 8000 times smaller than alpha rays and that's what makes them more dangerous. their small size allows them to penetrate clothing and skin.
