Answer:

Energy and Matter Flow in the Biosphere

Energy enters the biosphere as sunlight. Plants change this energy into chemical energy through the process of photosynthesis. Then, the energy is passed to organisms that eat the plants. Energy and matter is also passed between organisms when they eat one another.

How biosphere subsystem affect the flow of matter and energy on earth?

ANSWER:-

  • The Biosphere is composed of the parts of Earth where life exists. Since life exists on the ground, in the air, and in the water, the biosphere subsystem overlaps the atmosphere, lithosphere and hydrospheres in numerous ways.

Biosphere Subsystem Affect The Flow Of Matter

  • The nutrients are taken up by plants through their roots. These nutrients are passed to primary consumers when they eat the plants. Then again these nutrients pass to higher level consumers when they eat the lower level consumers (who eat plants). When living things die this cycle is repeated.

Biosphere Subsystem Affect The Flow Of Energy

  • The biosphere subsystem takes advantage of the food web created by the flow of matter. Through the remains of dead plants and animals, the nutrients in the soil and ocean are released in the form of energy. These released energies are re-absorbed by the plants which are growing.

  • This exchange of foods and energies makes the biosphere a self-supporting and self-regulating cycle. The prokaryotes can use sunlight to make simple sugars and oxygen from the water and carbon dioxide through a process called photosynthesis.
