INTRODUCTION:
The waste generated from various sources can be categorized into two types-
1.Biodegradable waste and
2.Non-Biodegradable waste.
The broken glass utensils are a kind of non-biodegradable waste because of the following reasons:
1.These substances cannot be degraded by microbes into harmless and non-toxic substances or broken down into simple substances, making nutrients adversely affect the quality of soil /its fertility.
2.Years together it does not degrade into the soil.
3.It adds pollution to the environment.
Other examples of these categories are`aluminium cans, plastics, glass,DDT (chemical fertilizers) etc.

Answer:
Broken glass utensils are a kind of non-degradable waste as they cannot be decomposed and broken down by living micro-organisms. These need to be disposed of in deep dug-out pits so that they do not cause any harm. However, sometimes broken glass in large quantities can be used in glass industries after melting them.
