how calcium oxide is used for soil treatment ??????

It is used industrially to treat acidic soil and to make porcelain and glass, bleaching powder, caustic soda, mortar and cement. Calcium oxide reacts with water to form calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH) 2).

Calcium OXIDE (quick lime) can be added to acidic soil in order to regulate the pH of the soil. Lesser the pH, the more acidic is the soil. Addition of quick lime can not only help to increase the pH but also provide the plant with essential minerals. Hence it is an pH indicator in soil too.
