how can a person get support from information and communication based services taken by government of Bangladesh?
Answers
Answer:
Bangladesh is one of the biggest democratic countries in the world. Government provides most of the utility and other services, and/or controls other sectors and services. Corruption hinders public services to the citizens. The corruption impedes the optimum national growth and development of Bangladesh. To improve the public services through ICT, Access to Information (a2i) Programme was initiated with support from UNDP and Bangladesh Government. Under the a2i Programme some initiatives i.e. e-tendering, e-purjee, and district e-services, have successfully implemented to adopt ICT to improve the public service delivery to the citizens. Bangladesh Government has also taken some initiatives to adopt ICT in public sectors. Four e-government services (e-tendering, e-purjee, and district e-services, online MPO distributions) from Bangladesh have been analyzed to assess the impacts of ICT adoption in public sectors. The result shows that, ICT adoption in public sectors improved the public service delivery and reduced corruption in public sectors by providing citizen access and transparency that ensure accountability. From case study, a framework is proposed to adopt ICT in the public sectors. Some policy directions i.e. delivering ICT services to the door steps of the unprivileged and the use of ICT as the tool of enhancing performance of the government services are also proposed based on the study.
