Monocot seedlings can be identified by their leaves, they have parallel venation.
Eg: Banana leaves, Coconut leaves.
Dicot seedlings can also be identified by their leaves, they have reticulate venation.
Eg: Neem tree leaves, Mango tree leaves
Monocot and Dicot groups are divided based on the number of cotyledons. If the plant contains one cotyledon then it is called Monocotyledon. If the plant contains two cotyledons then it is called Dicotyledon. Cotyledons are the embryonic seedling within the seed.
