OVERVIEW :Mining if not controlled can be very hazardous to the environment. Some of the ways of minimizing the hazards of mining is by reclaiming land hat is left as a result of mining .Eventual open cast and shaft mining degrades land upon execution .Open holes are left after the process .Such holes can lead to accidents while water can accumulate in them to host mosquitoes and other disease causing organisms.

HAZARD MINIMIZATION

1.Covering the open pits after mining

2. Reclaiming the land by planting trees (often as a result of open cast mining )

3.Treating waste from mining sites to avoid harming aquatic organisms like fish .
