Answer:

Explanation:

One of the most important aspects of the Indian polity is that it is an

aggregation of regions and sub-regions. These regions and sub-regions have a

distinct socio-cultural personality within the framework of the seven natural

regions of India.

Regionalism is a country wide phenomenon, and often it took the form of

well-conceived and well-organised agitations and campaigns.

Why did regionalism grow ?

It grew largely due to four factors, first and

foremost among these was the problem of economic and social development of

Indian society. After Independence, India lacked a balanced economic grov^h of

all parts and regions. Instead of caring for the interests of the country as a

whole, political leadership became narrow-minded and began to clamour for the

progress of their own state or region. The last-two decades have witnessed an

intense regional disparities

Regionalism involves such diverse problems as those of minorities

administrative decentralization, local self-government and autonomy, the cult of

homeland and earth and local patriotism which very often lead to separatism.

Regionalist problems arise only where there is a combination of two or more

such factors as geographical isolation, independent historical tradition, racial or

religious peculiarities and local economic or class interests.

Regionalism in India is only a short cut to meet the political ambitions by emotionally exploiting the sentiments of the people.

Every Indian is son of this soil. A Bihari becomes Mumbaikar when a bomb explodes in Mumbai and a Mumbaikar becomes Bihari when Kosi wrecks havoc in the plains of Bihar. We are united by an idea called India and that unity is imperative if we want to realize the dream of becoming a superpower.
