Plants helps in holding the water table at higher level. If plants are removed the rainwater will not be absorbed by the ground as there are no plants to hold the water due to which ground water is not recharged leading to depletion of ground water.

Answer:

The trees and plants of forests help in the seepage of rainwater into the ground.

If there are lesser number of trees and plants in the forest, less rainwater will seep into the ground. This depletes the water table
