How can dilution change ph level from acidic to basic

E.G. if a sol.of ph 5 i.e acidic is diluted 1000 times the new ph becomes 6 i.e basic

Dilution is generally addition of water to a solution.The pH value changes on addition of water i.e. dilution because water changes the physical properties of solution.

It has OH- ions which are basic on nature so the solution changes to basic.
