1.Ethanol has a pleasant smell whereas ethanoic acid has the smell of vinegar.

2.Ethanol has a burning taste where as ehthanoic acid has a sour taste.

3.Ethanol has no action on litmus paper whereas ethanoic acid turns blue litmus paper into red.

4..Ethanol has no reaction with sodium Hydrogencarbonate but Ethanoic Acid gives brisk Effervescence with Sodium Hydrogencarbonate.

ehsanellahie: its chemical properties ...it has 6 marks
debasmita10: do you need more points?
ehsanellahie: yes chemical reaction bro
debasmita10: Ethanol is a liquid at room temperature with a pleasant odour while ethanoic acid has vinegar-like smell. The melting point of ethanoic acid is 17°C. This is below room temperature and hence, it freezes during winters.

Ethanoic acid reacts with metal carbonates and metal hydrogencarbonates to form salt, water, and carbon dioxide gas while ethanol does not react with them.
debasmita10: Is this ok?
ehsanellahie: thanks for your effort
ehsanellahie: actually i have show its chemical eqn.
