Put some into a muslin bag and attach a string to the bag . Pour lime water in a conical flask and suspend the bag into conical flask with the rubber cork and leave it for about 4 hours .

After 4 hours you will observed that lime water turns milky . This is because when organisms respire , they give out carbon as a by product . When carbon oxide dissolves in lime water , it turns milky .
