How can hydrogen give an electron??? shouldnt it gain an electron to attain the duet state like helium ???? if it gives off an electron it will have zero electrons!

Hydrogen gives an electron and forms something known as a "hydrogen proton".It gains a positive charge and usually forms an ionic bond with the atom it gave the electron to.
