atom is a smallest particle of an element that displays the property of that substance.it does not independently existence but take part in chemical reaction. john dalton said it cannot be divided but in this period it is divided.atoms have three parts.....electrons.....protons.....neutrons.positively charged particle of an atom is proton and negative is electron.anf nuetrons have no charge means neutral.
